About the speaker
Dr. Johannes Huitink
Anesthesiologist at VU Medical Center Amsterdam, The Netherlands
Upon completion of his medical study at the VU University Medical Center in 1995, Johannes Huitink obtained a PhD in cardiology at the same center in the same year. He completed his anesthesiology training at the Academic Medical Center in Amsterdam in 2001. In that year he became staff anesthesiologist at the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine at the Netherlands Cancer Institute – Antoni van Leeuwenhoek hospital in Amsterdam, where he specialized in cancer anesthesia.
In 2007, he moved to Australia and worked as staff consultant anesthetist at the Department of Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine of Western Health in Melbourne.
In 2008, he joined the Department of Anesthesiology at VU University Medical Center in Amsterdam, where he currently works and combines clinical work with teaching and research.
He is founder of the Airway Management Academy, member of the International Advisory Board of Anaesthesia Journal and member of the Difficult Airway Society and European Airway Management Society.
