La ventilación mecánica no invasiva (VMNI) es una terapia de soporte ventilatorio que no invade la vía aérea del paciente. Se ha convertido en una técnica de primer orden en el abordaje terapéutco del paciente que sufre fracaso respiratorio y que es atendido en un medio hospitalario (servicios de urgencias, unidades de cuidados intensivos, unidades de reanimación y salas de hospitalización convencional) o extrahospitalario.
La VMNI es compleja y su curva de aprendizaje progresiva. Esta es más rápida y fiable si se inicia con cursos monográficos intensivos, donde el alumno pueda aprender conocimientos teóricos y habilidades prácticas en poco tiempo. En esta presentación se habla de los fundamentos de la VMNI, su aprendizaje y el uso clínico en una sala hospitalaria polivalente.
